Variety: 'Copper' renewed for second season

First season, which ends Sunday, is the cabler's highest-rated drama in its history, averaging just over 1 million viewers each week live-plus-7 figures are included. "Copper" premiered on Aug. 19 and drew a cumulative total of 2.7 million viewers.

From Cineflix Studios and exec producers Barry Levinson, Tom Fontana, Will Rokos and Christina Wayne, show examines the rough-and-tumble life in Manhattan in 1864. Skein, starring Tom Weston-Jones as a police detective, balances procedural elements along with serialized storytelling.

The two biggest previous Levinson-Fontana television collaborations are NBC's Baltimore-set "Homicide: Life on the Street" and HBO's prison drama "Oz."
