Cannes, 4 April 2016. Is it justified to shoot down a civilian plane, converted by terrorists into a deadly suicide missile? Beta Film puts this question on the worldwide agenda by picking up the TV event TERROR (Moovie/Constantin Film for ARD Degeto), which places the audience in the judge's seat, testing the fundamental values of our democracy. In this legal thriller, directed by Lars Kraume ("The People vs Fritz Bauer"), producer Oliver Berben ("Hotel Adlon – A Family Saga") partners up once again with Oliver Berben and bestseller-author Ferdinand von Schirach ("Shades of Guilt"). TERROR will be offered at MipTV as a format as well as a ready-made feature-length event. The case: Terrorists hijack a civil airplane and force the pilot to set course for a sold-out football stadium. At the last minute and against the explicit orders of his wing commander, a German air force pilot shoots down the airplane before it crashes into the stadium. Having saved the lives of tens of thousands but killing all passengers on board, he now faces charges for his action in court. The concept: The audience witnesses the trial. After the hearing of the air force pilot, the viewers have to judge for themselves by voting live online, via telephone or text message: guilty or innocent? Depending on the outcome of the viewer's vote either the conviction or the acquittal of the pilot will be broadcasted.
