Munich, 9 February 2010. Beta Film and producer Sam Davis ("A Light in Dark Places", "Pest – Die Rückkehr") have jointly founded a company to develop and produce scripted drama for television and cinema. The Rowboat Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH, whose CEO is Davis, will produce programs in all genres, from thrillers to romantic comedies, for commercial and public broadcasters, as well as for distributors in Germany and abroad. The Rowboat GmbH has its registered seat in Cologne (www.rowboat.tv).
"We see Rowboat as a small, highly motivated unit that will concentrate on selected projects and give them top-quality support from beginning to end," says Davis. "Our goal is to give the films an unmistakable handwriting that is stamped by many years of experience and familiarity with the business." Adds Beta Film CEO Jan Mojto: "For us, the collaboration with Sam Davis is extraordinarily promising. During his years at Fox, RTL, Zeitsprung and Endemol, Davis has proven his talent for relating an enormous range of stories in an exciting manner." Davis' current project is the ZDF romantic comedy "London, Liebe, Taubenschlag" (2 x 90'), which is planned for airing in late April and for which Davis was responsible as producer at Endemol.
Sam Davis, most recently head of fiction at Endemol Deutschland, began his career at 20th Century Fox in Los Angeles and later founded his own company, "Insight Out Films." In the early 1990s, he was appointed head of the TV Movie Department at RTL in Cologne, where he oversaw the development and production of over a hundred films. After his years at RTL, he was a partner and co-manager of Zeitsprung in Cologne from 1998 to 2004.
