VOX Germany scored record ratings with remake of Spanish/Catalan success-series “Red Bracelets”

Munich, 18 November 2015. The German version of the Spanish/Catalan mega success series Red Bracelets (“Polseres Vermelles”/“Club der roten Bänder”) has beaten all expectations on VOX (RTL Group). Episode one and two of the show were watched by an audience share of 13.2 percent in the target group of viewers aged 14 to 49 and doubling the channels average market share in this target group. Ratings even increased at the second week, climbing to an outstanding 14 and 14.7 percent market share in the target group for episode three and four. Beta Film licensed the format rights and Beta’s affiliated Bantry Bay produced the series. Beta Film holds the international distribution rights for the German version.

Red Bracelets is based on the TV3 Televisió de Catalunya series “Polseres Vermelles”, created by Albert Espinosa and Pau Freixas, produced by Filmax.

The show (10xone hour) depicts the live and whereabouts of six children between 12 and 17 years, seriously ill, who live together as patients and form a club to simply survive – the name of the club is based on the red name tags one gets before an operation. The original show was extremely successful in Spain as a brand new approach to traditional hospital series and won as Best Series at the International Emmy Kids Award. In March “Braccialetti Rossi” scored on Italy’s RAI sensational market shares. Critics in Germany praised Red Bracelets as extraordinary and gripping. Süddeutsche Zeitung stated: “This series has yet been missing on German TV”.

Red Bracelets was produced by Bantry Bay’s Gerda Müller and Jan Kromschröder for VOX, with VOX’ Bernd Reichart as Executive Producer.
