"Generation War" won International Emmy Award as Best Mini-Series

New York, 25 November 2014 Beta Film's highly acclaimed mini-series Generation War has won the International Emmy Award. The World War II-drama was honored at Monday night's ceremony in New York as "Best Mini-Series". The Band-of-Brother-style six part series, praised by media as historical turning point on German TV and awarded with several German TV awards, the Prix Europe, the Prix Italia, the Austrian TV Award as well as many others, had been aired with tremendous success all over the world. It was released in US cinemas earlier this year and most recently broadcasted on BBC 2 with remarkable ratings on German with subtitles on its prime time slot.

Generation War triggered a debate in Germany and abroad about the personal involvement of everybody's mothers and fathers in WWII, who lost their youth and their innocence between 1939 and 1945. Starring Tom Schilling ("Oh Boy"), Volker Bruch ("The Reader"), Miriam Stein ("Tour de Force"), Ludwig Trepte ("You can never be sure") Katharina Schüttler ("Carlos") and directed by Philipp Kadelbach ("Hindenburg"), the highly emotional mini-series depicts the story about five friends, who fought in Hitler's devastating war. Nico Hofmann produced the co-production of teamWorx and ZDF in co-operation with Beta Film and ZDF Enterpgegerises, supported by Film und Medienstiftung NRW, FFF Bayern, Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung, Medienboard, Nordmedia and FFHSH.
