Munich, 5 February 2015. Ahead of its world premiere at this year’s Berlinale, Sky UK and Sky Deutschland have picked up the Italian political thriller 1992 from Beta Film. 1992, set in the political turmoil triggered by the so-called Mani Pulite (Clean Hands) maxi-investigation, is the latest series of Sky Italia, producer of the highly successful mafia-drama series “Gomorrah”. Realized by Wildside, the 10xone hour series revolves around six ordinary people whose lives are intertwined with the political, civil and social earthquake going by the name of Tangentopoli (“Kickback City”). In Berlin, 1992 will be the opening film of the Berlinale Special Series on February 9th, designated to highlight outstanding international TV product. The series will start simultaneously on March 24th on Sky Italia, Sky UK, Sky Ireland, Sky Deutschland and Sky Austria. We are proud to partner with Sky Italia, Sky UK and Sky Deutschland on this truly exceptional series”. 1992 is based on an idea of the Italian actor Stefano Accorsi (“The Last Kiss”), who also stars along with Guido Caprino (“War Story”, “In Treatment”), Domenico Diele (“All Cops are Bastards”), Miriam Leone, Tea Falco (Bertolucci’s “Io e te”) and Alessandro Roja (“Romanzo Criminale”); director is Giuseppe Gagliardi, the script was written by Alessandro Fabbri (“In Treatment”), Ludovica Rampoldi (“In Treatment”, “Gomorrah”) and Stefano Sardo (“In Treatment”).
