BORGIA boasts top ratings in Germany

Munich, 20 October 2011. After its outstanding success in France and Italy, Tom Fontana’s BORGIA series has now also scored top ratings in Germany and Austria as well. The series, which is being aired in blocks of two episodes, pulled in up to 6.2 million viewers (market share: 18.7%) on ZDF and obtained a market share of nearly 13% in the younger target group (14-49), which is much higher than this broadcaster’s average in this segment. Part 2 was primetime-winner for ZDF with a market share of over 17% beating strong competition from the Champions League broadcast. On ORF, BORGIA registered a market share of up to 24%.The series about the scandal-ridden papal clan had already given French broadcaster Canal+ its best ratings of all time for both episodes which have already been broadcasted and also celebrated outstanding ratings on Italy’s Sky Cinema.
