BETA travels to Janosch’s world

Munich, 24 September 2010. Beta Film is traveling to Janosch’s world: the enchanting animated films of the world-famous author, whose books have sold millions of copies and been translated into 20 languages, have found a new home with the Munich international sales company. The stories of the two pals Little Bear and Little Tiger are now in Beta Film’s new Line-up, just as the characters Daddy Lion and Schnuddel. Beta Film is presenting the first selected scenes from the new Janosch TV series The Tigerduckgang (26 x 13’) at MipCom in Cannes next week. A feature film version of The Tigerduckgang will also be theatrically released in Germany next year, distributed by MFA. The producer of the Janosch films for TV and cinema is the Munich Papa Löwe Filmproduktion headed by Irina Probost (“The Trip to Panama”).
The Tigerduckgang, which will delight children between the ages of six and nine, tells the stories of Hannes and his sassy friend Laika, the dog Bergmann and the two mice Schischi and Tütü. Their opponent is not only the strict teacher Birkenpappel, but also the mice sheriff Browning, who shies from nothing to get hold of Hannes’ beloved Tigerduck.
Also belonging to the Janosch collection is the 26-part series Daddy Lion and His Happy Kids (26 x 25’) directed by Martin Otevrels (“The Trip to Panama”). In preparation is the theatrical feature film The Treasure-hunting Trip, which is scheduled for completion in 2011. The film accompanies Tiger and Bear in their futile search for big money. At the end, it dawns on both of them that friendship is what really counts. The feature film will be produced by Papa Löwe Filmproduktion; directing is again Irina Probost.
